Traceable Duct Rods & Push Cables

Traceable Duct Rods & Push Cables for Non-Metallic Pipes

Traceable rods let you accurately locate plastic conduits and ducts. The built-in tracer wire carries a signal from your transmitter that can be picked up by standard receivers—perfect for construction, utility operations and troubleshooting.

  • Reliable locating of plastic pipes & empty ducts
  • Integrated tracer wire for signal injection (e.g., 33 kHz, 512/640 Hz)
  • High push strength with reinforced fiberglass core
  • Length markings and rugged reels for jobsite use
  • Compatible with common signal transmitters & receivers

What is a traceable duct rod?

Traceable duct rods (push cables) are fiberglass push rods with an integrated conductor. A signal transmitter injects a defined locating frequency into the rod, which can then be tracked at the surface with a compatible receiver—even on non-metallic utilities.

Applications

  • Tracing empty conduits, service laterals and protective ducts
  • Documenting routes and narrowing down faults
  • Pulling pilot wires, sondes or pulling heads

Frequencies & compatibility

Depending on depth and surroundings, 33 kHz offers versatile tracking, while 512/640 Hz enables deeper, low-interference locating. Match frequency and accessories to your transmitter/receiver setup.

Selection guide

  • Diameter & length: larger diameters and longer lengths improve push distance and locating range
  • Bend radius: align with pipe size and expected bends
  • End fittings: choose suitable threads, pulling eyes and tips
  • Accessories: sondes, pulling grips, guide cones and spare tips

Pro tips

  • Inject a clean signal and establish a solid ground/return
  • Trace the route in segments and document consistently
  • Reduce mechanical stress in bends—never force the rod

For best results, align rod type, frequency and accessories with the pipe material, expected depth and your existing locating equipment.
