Dynamic Overload Protection
Thanks to Radiodetection’s unique digital signal processing, C.A.T4 devices can suppress electrical interference. With dynamic overload protection, C.A.T4 series devices can operate in areas with strong electrical fields, such as near substations or under high-voltage cables, where other detection devices may become overloaded and stop functioning.
Avoidance Mode™
This mode allows an area to be scanned simultaneously and efficiently for power, radio, and Genny signals. Users can adjust sensitivity for each mode/signal individually. This enables underground utilities to be detected in a single sweep. With Real Sound, the operator receives acoustic feedback derived directly from the detected signal, improving detection speed while maintaining safety.
StrikeAlert™
The optional StrikeAlert™ function minimizes the risk of missing shallow buried cables. The function has been enhanced to reduce false warnings.
SWING™
Radiodetection C.A.T devices are designed for exceptionally fast response to even the smallest detectable underground signals. Studies have shown that detection performance depends heavily on proper handling of the device, such as avoiding fast or careless swinging.
To further reduce cable strike risks, eC.A.T4 models are equipped with sensors that detect improper handling and warn the user. These events are also stored in the data log.
Maintenance and Calibration
Service Due Indicator and CALSafe™
The risk of delaying detection work due to expired calibration can be minimized. eC.A.T4 series devices offer a 30-day countdown to calibration expiry. The optional CALSafe™ function can disable the device once calibration has expired, ensuring compliance with company policies. Maintenance intervals can be customized via C.A.T Manager software.
eCert™
eCert enables a fast and thorough verification of key circuitry within the C.A.T4 and validates performance against the original factory calibration via the internet. After an eCert test, a calibration certificate can be printed or saved.
Data Logging / Analysis and Software Updates
Built-in Data Logging
eC.A.T4 and gC.A.T4 models can store key measurement and operational data for an entire year. gC.A.T4 models include an internal GPS/GNSS receiver that records position data every second.
Data logs can be exported via C.A.T Manager™ in CSV, XML or KML formats and imported into mapping services such as Google Maps® or Google Earth®.
C.A.T Manager™ Software
C.A.T4 devices are supported by the C.A.T Manager Windows® software. It allows fleet and site managers to minimize downtime through software updates, reproduced calibration certificates, and online calibration via eCert.
Device functions such as depth estimation and warnings can be activated or deactivated. Operational and fleet codes can also be stored within the device for tracking and documentation purposes.
