OFL100 Optical Time Domain Reflectometer (OTDR)
With the optical time domain reflectometer (OTDR) OFL100, the technician can quickly locate loss events on the last mile of the FTTx network on site.
The touchscreen provides even newly hired technicians with an intuitive user interface, enabling them to locate loss events such as cut fibers, contaminated or damaged connectors, and excessively bent fibers. In Auto mode, the technician can initiate a measurement without adjusting test parameters. The Expert OTDR mode provides access to all functions required by experienced OTDR technicians, allowing them to refine measurement parameters and resolve the most challenging faults.
The results can be displayed using a conventional OTDR trace or a linear map with a user-selectable Pass/Fail analysis. All events are measured, annotated, stored, and exported as an industry-standard SOR file that complies with Telcordia GR196 standards. The SOR file can be imported into the Trace Viewing program, where analyses can be performed and test results can be saved as a PDF report.
The integrated VFL provides a safe level of red laser light to visually locate fiber faults within the OFL100 dead zone. The VFL can be used to verify the continuity of incorrectly or unlabeled fiber optic cables up to a length of approximately 5 km. The VFL output is set to ≤ 1 mW, corresponding to a Class 2 device classified as safe by the FDA.
The OPM can be used to measure absolute optical power levels and enables the technician to perform loss measurements on a fiber optic link when used in conjunction with the integrated stabilized laser source. Full fiber identification is supported by tone injection and detection.
