Tx-5 Transmitter
The Tx family of signal transmitters is based on a fully digital platform and was designed to complement the advanced precision locators from Radiodetection, including the RD7000, RD7100, RD8000 and RD8100 series. The Tx series was developed to meet the demands of locating or tracing utility lines in today’s complex underground infrastructure. The transmitter series offers locating frequencies compatible with all Radiodetection precision locator series and can be easily configured to the receiver of your choice using the “Model” function. All transmitters maintain constant current across their full bandwidth in all modes (direct connection, clamp or induction mode) and offer convenience on-site with IP65 protection, a removable accessory storage compartment, and a large high-contrast backlit LCD screen.
Available transmission methods
INDUCTIVE
The Tx transmitter has an internal antenna that induces a signal onto the line(s) directly beneath the device. This is useful when the line is not directly accessible. Normally, the induction mode is effective only up to a depth of 2m. Please note that the induction mode couples its signal indiscriminately to all conductors within its transmission field.
DIRECT (galvanic) connection
Direct connection is an effective method for applying the Tx locating signal onto a specific cable or pipeline network so it can be traced above ground. The connection can be made to any metallic part of the pipe or cable, such as valves, meters, junction boxes, streetlights, pipeline markers, or other access points.
APPLICATIONS
Tx-1 Transmitter
The Tx-1 is a low-power signal transmitter.

Accuracy combined with speed
iLOC remote control
iLOC is a highly advanced Bluetooth® link between the RD8100 receiver and transmitter that allows you to adjust the amplitude and frequency of the locating signal from up to 450 m/1400 ft away. Less walking time, more locating time.
90V maximum output voltage
A high output voltage ensures that you can receive traceable signals even from high-impedance lines such as twisted-pair telecommunications (TP) lines.
Automatic impedance matching
Drive your locating signal as far as possible by automatically matching the transmitter impedance to that of your target conductor.
Fault Find (sheath fault locating)
Use a Fault Find signal with Tx-5 and Tx-10 transmitters and an A-Frame frame antenna (accessory) to detect and precisely locate sheath or insulation faults.
Multimeter function
Measure output voltage, line voltage, current, impedance and output power. This helps you characterize interference on the target line before you begin tracing.
SideStepauto™
The transmitter can suggest a commonly used locating frequency for the intended locating task by measuring the impedance of the target cable or target pipeline. SideStepAuto helps improve accuracy and extends battery life.
ECO mode
Extend the life of alkaline batteries by enabling ECO mode. When a low charge level is detected, the transmitter gradually reduces output power and provides audible and visual warnings.
