Which pulling rope does the EDER PW400 capstan winch need?EDER
The pulling rope is not included in the scope of delivery. A synthetic rope of Ø 8 to 10 mm in any length is required for the EDER WINCH 400 (PW400); its tensile strength must be at least twice the pulling load in ground pulling. The rope type stated on the type plate must also be observed.
The maximum pulling force may only be reached with the original rope. Available as an accessory: a rope with thimble, Ø 9.5 mm, breaking load 3600 daN, in 50 or 100 m length.

Which device is right for my application?
Which fuel does the EDER PW400 capstan winch need?EDER
The PW400 has a two-stroke engine (Active) and is run on special fuel; suitable fuels are the petrol mixtures Lubimix, Oest Oecomix 2T, Stihl Motomix and Aspen 2T.
- Before switching to a different type of mixture, run the tank empty until the engine stops.
- Fill the tank (1.1 l) to no more than three quarters and shake the mixture vigorously before each use.
- Before longer storage, run the tank empty.
How is the engine of the EDER PW400 capstan winch started correctly?EDER
- Set the on/off switch to “I”.
- With a cold engine close the choke lever (start a warm engine without choke).
- Press the rubber dome of the primer once or twice until fuel mixture is visible in the primer (more often after the tank has run empty); do not pump further, otherwise the engine floods.
- With the choke closed, pull the starter handle firmly only once.
- Open the choke and pull the starter handle until the engine runs.
- Let the engine warm up at idle for a few minutes before pulling a load.
If a flooded engine does not start, clean the spark plug and try again after about 20 to 30 minutes.
How is the EDER PW400 capstan winch anchored and operated safely?EDER
- Anchor only at the fastening eye and only with textile fastening slings, e.g. a polyester round sling WLL 2000 kg, or EDER accessories – never with hooks, shackles, chains or other metal parts and never at the transport handle or engine guard.
- The anchor point (e.g. a tree) must withstand at least twice the pulling force; the winch must be able to swing freely and be fastened higher than the attachment point on the load.
- Operate from at least 5 m away from the winch and the rope line.
- Only for ground pulling and for operation by one person; the rope between load and winch must always remain taut and the load must not drop jerkily into the rope. Not for tree climbing, height rescue or transporting people.
