Replacement fuses
The fuse inside a multimeter is the part that takes the damage when voltage is measured while the meter is still set to a current range. It is a wear part and a safety part at once: once it has blown, the affected range stops working, and only the correct replacement fuse restores it. A bridged or wrongly chosen fuse takes away exactly the protection it was built in to provide.
Replacement fuses are therefore selected to the meter manufacturer's specification — rated current, voltage rating and size have to match. The range includes, among others, fast-acting fuses in the 6.3 x 32 mm size for 1000 V: F 10 A for the PAN 184, 185, 186 and 188, F 0.6 A for the PAN 184, 186 and 188 and F 0.4 A for the PAN 185. Alongside these are types in the 5 x 20 mm size for 600 V: F 10 A for the PAN Minimeter and PAN Profimeter, F 0.6 A for the PAN Profimeter and F 0.25 A for the PAN 118 and PAN Minimeter. Each item description names the instruments a fuse is intended for.
