What is an acoustic camera used for?Hertzinno
An acoustic camera locates sound sources and displays them as an image. It helps industrial users find gas leaks, compressed-air leaks, partial discharge, abnormal mechanical noise and other fault-related acoustic signals.
Can an acoustic camera detect gas leaks?Hertzinno
Yes. Gas escaping under pressure usually produces ultrasound. The acoustic camera picks up this signal and shows the leak location in the image, so the source can be found more quickly.
What distinguishes an acoustic camera from an ultrasonic leak detector?Hertzinno
A conventional ultrasonic leak detector usually provides only a sound level or an audio signal. The acoustic camera uses a microphone array to create an image of the sound source, which makes faults easier to locate and inspection findings easier to document.
Can an acoustic camera detect partial discharge?Hertzinno
Yes. Partial discharge produces audible sound and ultrasound. The acoustic camera makes the location of the discharge visible, for example in substations, in switchgear and on transformers.
How do the Hertzinno HZ-HA series acoustic cameras differ?Hertzinno
All four models capture sound from 2 to 100 kHz at working distances of 0.3 to 200 m and are designed for locating partial discharge and gas leaks. They differ as follows:
| Model | Microphones | Thermal imaging module | Operating time |
|---|---|---|---|
| HZ-HA-170P (ATEX: Ex ib IIC T4 Gb and Ex ib IIIC T80 °C Db) | 138 | – | 4 h |
| HZ-HA-270P (ATEX: Ex ib IIC T4 Gb and Ex ib IIIC T80 °C Db) | 138 | 640 × 512 pixels | 4 h |
| HZ-HA-171P | 128 | – | up to 7 h, replaceable battery |
| HZ-HA-271P | 128 | 640 × 512 pixels | up to 7 h, replaceable battery |
The thermal imaging module of the 270P and 271P measures temperatures from −20 to 550 °C.
